Organic farming

Principles of Organic Farming

Theory of Health

Organic farming should maintain and enhance the health of soil, plants, animals, humans and the earth as another integral part. In view of this, the use of fertilizers, pesticides, animal medicines and food additives should be avoided, which can have a bad effect on health.

Theory of Ecology

Organic farming should be based on vibrant ecology systems and cycles, work with, emulate them and help sustain them. Those who produce, process, trade or use organic products should protect and benefit from the general environment, including landscapes, climate, habitat, biodiversity, air and water.

Principle of fairness

Organic farming should build on relationships that ensure fairness with respect to the general environment and life opportunities. Fairness requires systems of production, distribution and trade that are open and equitable and account for real environmental and social costs.

Principle of Care

Organic farming should be managed in a precautionary and responsible manner to protect the health and well-being of present and future generations and the environment. Decisions should reflect the values and needs of all those affected through transparent and participatory processes.
